IMA Webinar Broadcast: Cyber-Enabled Financial Crimes: The Next Frontier – A Presentation of the U.S. Secret Service

April 13, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am PDT

As a result of the convergence of the Internet and advanced technologies, both the quantity and sophistication of cyber-enabled financial crimes targeting and exploiting the U.S. financial service sector, modern payment systems, and private institutions have significantly increased. Join us as the Secret Service provides insights into this growing trend and discusses their whole-of-community strategies to detect, deter, and disrupt criminals from using the cyber domain as a “safe haven” from which to launch attacks against the nation’s financial infrastructure. Secret Service representatives from the Cyber-Fraud Threat Intelligence Unit, Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), and San Diego Cyber Fraud Task Force will cover evolving threat vectors, including the monetization of fraud schemes such as business email compromise, and the illicit use of cryptocurrency as payment or a money laundering mechanism.
