Protecting Our Nation

What Does InfraGard Protect?

InfraGard protects U.S. critical infrastructure - in short, that includes everything that is vital to our safety, security, quality of life, and future.

Critical infrastructures are those systems and assets - whether physical or virtual – that are considered so vital to the United States that their incapacitation or destruction would have a debilitating effect on security, national economic security, national public health or safety, or any combination of those matters.

In terms of American life, we are all reliant on critical infrastructure every day for work, life and play. Recognizable critical infrastructures include our businesses, schools, highways, airports, hospitals, banks, police and fire services, power companies, drinking water systems, postal services, religious facilities, hotels, theme parks, shopping malls, restaurants and much, much more.

Based on the definition above, Presidential Policy Directive-21 identified 16 distinct U.S. critical infrastructure sectors. Visit the links below to learn more.
