National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
For background purposes, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) was founded in 1984 as a private, non-profit organization to serve as the national clearinghouse and resource center for information about missing and exploited children. NCMEC works with families, victims, private industry, law enforcement, and the public to assist with preventing child abductions, recovering missing children, and providing services to deter and combat child sexual exploitation. The FBI has agents that sit in the NCMEC building. More can be learned at www.ncmec.org.
