SUMMARY:IMA Webinar Broadcast: Sanitization and Disposal of Media and Excess Information Technology Equipment
DESCRIPTION:We will provide instructions to organizations on how to effectively sanitize hard drives and other electronic media. The NIST SP 800-88 Guidelines for Media Sanitization were originally meant for government use\, but are now commonly implemented by many private companies and organizations. By following the guidelines\, organizations can feel confident they have taken the necessary steps to minimize the chances of their data being recovered by third parties. Media sanitization is the process of removing data stored on an electronic media device in a way that ensures it cannot be easily retrieved by third parties. After correctly sanitizing a device\, the data that has been removed should be unrecoverable even with the assistance of advanced forensic tools. In addition to removing the files and folders from your electronic media device\, the sanitization process will securely remove all Data Remanence. \nObjectives: \nUpon completion of this webinar\, the attendee/student will be able to understand how to execute the three phases of of Media and IT Sanitization: Phase 1) Accountability and Logistics; Phase 2) De-manufacture and Risk Reduction; and Phase 3) Destruction and Disposal \n  \nPresenter: \nJaime-Maria Nelson\, Corporate Security Manager & P2 SHRED Program Manager; System High Corporation \nA retired Army SIGINT Professional who has been an Industrial Security Professional since 2009. She is a Special Access Program SME and has spent over 20 years working/supporting the SCI environments within DoD. \n  \nWho should attend: \nOpen to anyone. Particularly aimed toward all personnel who want to learn about the NIST requirement and the processes required to property dispose of Media and IT Equipment. \nRegistration: \nhttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/march-2021-huntsville-infragard-member-alliance-meeting-tickets-114548842672

SUMMARY:IMA Webinar Broadcast: Safeguarding the Bioeconomy
DESCRIPTION:Biological threats have historically focused on addressing emerging infectious diseases or the possibility of engineering a virus that could start the zombie apocalypse. Today\, as biology continues to converge with the cyber realm\, new security challenges will arise. Supervisory Special Agent Edward You will highlight the need to radically redefine what we consider a biological threat. \n  \nObjectives: \nParticipants will learn that we must move past the traditional definition of biological threats and focus on the potential for biological data to become an economic driver\, and therefore a national security concern. \n  \nPresenters: \nEdward You\, FBI SSA \nEdward You is a Supervisory Special Agent in the FBI’s Weapons of Mass Destruction Directorate\, currently detailed as a Liaison Officer at the Department of Health and Human Services\, Office of National Security. \n  \nWho can attend: \nOpen only to vetted InfraGard members. SUMMARY:IMA Webinar Broadcast: SolarWinds & Data Breach Impact in the Legal Field
DESCRIPTION:The SolarWinds/Orion supply chain attack\, impacting an estimated 18\,000 customers is but one reminder of the vulnerabilities lurking in third party vendors. SUMMARY:IMA Webinar Broadcast: Detecting Agro-Terrorism with Agricultural & Environmental Analytics
DESCRIPTION:Many naturally occurring factors may contribute significantly to crop shortfalls such as epidemics of disease and pests and weather. In this talk\, we discuss how modeling of historical epidemiological\, weather\, and soil data may be used to discern between regular seasonal variability and potential external shocks such as deliberate agro-terrorism. Early detection of these events requires the synthesis of all of these heterogeneous data streams to eliminate alternative explanations. We propose a Bayesian learning framework for learning the relationships between these factors\, which we trained on a decade’s worth of historical observations. We demonstrate how this modeling methodology may then be used to identify earlier spatiotemporal anomalies in surveillance which are indicative of coordinated and preternatural dissemination of disease. \nObjectives:  \n-Identification of novel data elements for monitoring food security\n-Statistical & machine learning techniques to synthesize these disparate data streams for forecasting/prediction\n-Discussion of metrics for detection for potential adverse events in food security \nPresenter:  \nAndrew Hong\, MITRE Corporation\, Operations Research Analyst \nDr. Andrew E. Hong is an operations research analyst in the Modeling and Simulation department at the MITRE Corporation. He has supported several federal agencies such as DHS\, IRS\, and CMS in data-driven modeling for detecting fraud and waste. \nWho can attend: \nInfraGard members interested in the topic of detecting agro-terrorism with environmental analytics. SUMMARY:IMA Webinar Broadcast: The Anubis Clock: We are all on borrowed time against the attackers.
