SUMMARY:IMA Webinar: Foreign Malign Influence\, Artificial Intelligence and the 2024 Election
DESCRIPTION:The InfraGard NCR Chapter is pleased to offer a session on Foreign Malign Influence\, Artificial Intelligence and the 2024 Election. America’s adversaries have historically targeted U.S. elections as part of their efforts to undermine the U.S.\, create division within American society and to influence how people vote and make decisions about their future elected leaders. Election 2024 will be no different as U.S. elections remain an attractive target for both nation-states and cyber criminals. This year\, foreign malign influence operations are expected to increase especially with the advent of technology that makes it easier for those types of operations to play-out. \nLearning Outcomes/Objectives: Join analysts from the FBI\, DHS I & A\, and the Elections Infrastructure-ISAC to learn: \n\nWhat is foreign malign influence?\nHow does foreign malign influence compare to legitimate influence efforts?\nWhat is and what is not foreign malign influence operations?\nWhat are the differences in foreign malign influence efforts based on the country of origin e.g. China or Russia?\nWho and what are the targets of foreign malign influence?\nHow law enforcement\, academic institutions\, local and regional entities are being subjects to foreign malign influence operations.\nDiscussion of specific examples of foreign malign influence operations.\nHow do adversaries use cyber-enabled means to influence or interfere with elections?\nHow do foreign malign influence threats converge with cyber and physical threat vectors?\nHow is AI being leveraged by adversaries to influence or interfere with elections?\nWhat physical threats are being posed to election infrastructure and personnel? DESCRIPTION:InfraGard National is pleased to continue our exclusive joint webinar series with the National Counterterrorism Center. This event will include the following two presentations: \nRadicalization and Terrorism Prevention – This briefing will provide an overview of terrorism prevention and its associated activities\, focusing on how this approach works to mitigate radicalizations and mobilization to violent extremism. Presenter Dr. Agatha Glowacki has worked with NCTC for more than a decade on issues pertaining to terrorist threats and propaganda\, radicalization and recruitment\, and programs to prevent and counter violent extremism (CVE). The learning objectives for this webinar include: \n\nBe able to describe the spectrum of activities that fall under Terrorism Prevention and who the key players are;\nUnderstand the important role of bystanders in reporting information;\nUnderstand the importance of the Threat Assessment/Threat Management model to off-ramp individuals who are close to mobilizing to violence;\nUnderstand ways to mitigate offenders from re-offending after they leave prison.\n\nViolent Extremist Mobilization Indicators and the Critical Infrastructure Sector – This briefing will provide an overview of the Critical Infrastructure Sector supplement to the 2021 US Violent Extremist Mobilization Indicators booklet. Presenter John Cassara has worked at NCTC since 2013 in a variety of roles\, including as an intelligence analyst focused on homegrown violent extremists\, radicalization and mobilization of violent extremists\, and ISIS’ cyber and media operations. The learning objectives for this webinar include: \n\nUnderstand and recognize the observable behaviors that suggest a US-based violent extremist may be mobilizing to violence.\nUnderstand how those behaviors could apply to violent extremists targeting the 16 critical infrastructure sectors.\n\nSee weekly email for registration link.
